If you’re interested in nonprofit work, education, community advocacy, public service, or making a meaningful difference, the Hiring Summit: Arts, Advocacy + Impact 2026 is designed with you in mind. Join us on March 2, from 12:00–3:00 PM at the Center for the Arts to connect with employers who are actively hiring for internships and full-time roles that support communities and create positive social change.
This fair is an opportunity to explore careers that align with your values, build professional connections, and learn how your skills can contribute to organizations doing important work across Western New York and beyond.
Employer Spotlight: Child and Family Services
At the Hiring Summit, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Child and Family Services (C+FS), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening children, families, and communities across Western New York. With a legacy dating back to 1873, C+FS is an equity-centered human services and a cornerstone of the region’s social impact ecosystem. Here’s what they had to share with UB students.
What does your organization do and how does it create impact?
C+FS provides essential services including counseling, foster care and adoption, residential treatment, mediation, special education, domestic violence services, employee assistance, and community-based programs. Their work centers on creating safe, healthy environments where children and families can thrive.
How can UB students stand out at the Hiring Summit?
Demonstrate genuine passion for social impact and supporting children and families. Come ready to ask thoughtful questions, show curiosity about nonprofit and human service careers, and—if you’re seeking employment or internships—bring your resume and/or cover letter and do some basic research on the agency.
What questions do you like to hear from students?
- What career paths are available within your organization?
- Which programs or roles might fit my interests in education, social work, or community services?
- How can I best prepare for a career in human services or nonprofit leadership?
- What experiences help students succeed in your programs?
What types of opportunities should students be excited about?
Undergraduate and graduate internships, as well as career roles, across residential treatment, domestic violence services, foster care and adoption, mental health clinics, preventative services, and home and community-based programs. Internship opportunities will be posted on their website in February and March.
What skills and qualities do you value most in students?
Empathy, flexibility, adaptability, reliability, and a strong commitment to integrity and kindness. Experience supporting children and families is valued, along with a willingness to partner with the community and respond to evolving needs.
