Create video content and connect with some of the top employers of creative talent in Buffalo.
On March 11, representatives from New Era Cap, Hadley Exhibits, dPost Studios, Buffalo Toronto Media, and more will come to Knox Hall on UB’s North Campus to review students’ social media videos to select winners of the 2026 Viral Video Competition.
What started as a small idea has generated big interest. UB’s newest creative pilot event has drawn some of the top employers in Buffalo. Each of these companies is interested in developing career pipelines at UB.
Internships and entry-level jobs can be tough to secure in creative fields. That’s why the Viral Video Competition seeks to break down some of the barriers in creative recruitment by combining experiential learning directly with career development. Students are encouraged to submit work that shows off their skills in content creation, skills that are in high demand, at a forum hosted on UB’s own campus. Winners and attendees will connect directly with creative recruiters. From there, opportunities abound.
The Viral Video Competition entry form will be open until 8 PM on Monday, March 9. Students are encouraged to submit videos they may already have created for classes, internships, clubs, or personal projects. Students can enter videos in one of several different categories, including:
- Most Entertaining
- Best Branding (Personal or Company)
- Best Commercial
- Best Educational Content
- Other (Miscellaneous Category)
Any video published in 2025 or 2026 is eligible for entry. After review by an initial panel of judges, finalists in each category will be selected to be shown at the finals event on March 11. Finalists will have their work shown directly to attending employers and creative professionals.
Students can submit work that has been published on personal pages, as well as club or business accounts. As long as each team member’s work is properly credited in the entry form, just about any video is eligible.
Enter your video for a chance to win or attend as a guest to cheer on the contestants and meet representatives. This is a pilot event you won’t want to miss!
