The Gift of Life, an international stem cell and bone marrow registry dedicated to helping patients battling blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma find life-saving stem cell and bone marrow donors.
Throughout the semester, our team hosts stem cell donor registration drives across campus where students can join the registry through a quick and simple cheek swab that takes only a few minutes. These drives are often the moment when a patient’s future donor joins the registry. We encourage you to stop by one of our drives, learn more about stem cell donation, and consider joining the registry. A small action today could one day save someone’s life.
We are also looking for VOLUNTEERS, especially pre-health students who are interested in patient advocacy, community health education, and addressing healthcare disparities tomake a real difference in the fight against blood cancer. Volunteer hours can be verified through UBLinked upon request.
Volunteers’ roles are:
- Educating students about the importance of stem cell and bone marrow donation
- Assisting individuals with the donor registration process
- Supporting outreach and engagement efforts during campus events with UB Gift of Life.
By volunteering, you will not only support a lifesaving cause but also develop leadership, communication, and public health outreach skills that are essential in healthcare professions. Active volunteers will also have the opportunity to apply to become a Campus Ambassador for the Gift of Life Marrow Registry in the following academic year.
