Position Details
Start Date: August 2026 with continued employment if successful in role
Hours: Part-time, must be willing to work 8 hours per week
Commitment: one-year (summer 2027 graduation date or beyond)
Locations: Lockwood or Abbott Libraries
Representative Job Duties
Library student assistants will work in one or more of the following roles:
- Annex Resource Sharing: scan requested articles and book chapters; package requested materials to be sent to partner libraries, process materials being sent to UB community members.
- Qualities of successful candidates: able to master complex workflows, detail-oriented, able to review work for quality-assurance purposes, independent work, highly repetitive work tasks
Required Qualifications
- Current University at Buffalo student enrollment
- International students must be enrolled full-time or have full-time status
- Domestic students must be enrolled for at least 1 credit
- Able to commit to a minimum one-year position
- Graduating Summer 2027 or later (Sep. 1 2027 conferral date or later)
- Able to work at least 8 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid social security number
- Library experience
- Enrolled in a Information & Library Sciences degree program or minor
Work Environment
- Requires ability to: concentrate on detailed tasks with frequent interruptions; sit, stand, and move throughout library and adjacent campus buildings; occasionally reach, bend, stoop, crouch, and balance
- Exposure to dust and newsprint in library settings
