Student Assistant Position
The Office of Recruitment and Student Engagement within the College of Arts and Sciences is seeking work-study students to assist with recruitment operations and events within the College. You will gain experience in undergraduate student recruitment, large-scale event coordination and initiatives to support student retention.
This position is a 10 month-appointment (August -June) at an hourly rate of $16.50 for approximately 10 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends will be required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Full-time student at UB
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented
- Has work-study funding
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in admissions or student affairs
- Previous experience with event coordination
Job Responsibilities:
The student assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Greet visitors to the office and direct them appropriately.
- Assist in answering phone calls to the main office and fielding inquiries appropriately.
- Escort prospective students on Crash A Class visits
- Assist with our Spend a Day in CAS initiative
- Respond to parent and student questions regarding undergraduate commencement.
- Attend and assist with College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate commencement ceremonies in May
- Assist with College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Senior awards
- Assist with preparations for Open House, Accepted Students Days, and other undergraduate recruitment events.
- Attend Open House, Accepted Student Days and other undergraduate recruitment events to help with day of event logistics.
- Assist with planning summer recruitment events
- Miscellaneous administrative tasks
