Record and Display Your Name Pronunciation on Your Profile

You can record how to pronounce your name and display it on your LinkedIn profile for others to listen to. This will help LinkedIn members to correctly address you when they speak to you.

Important: If you’ve chosen for your last name to only appear to your connections, then while selecting name pronunciation visibility, you’ll be notified through a ‘Name display restriction’ pop-up. Learn more about changing how your name appears on your profile.

Note: You currently can’t record or edit your name pronunciation on the LinkedIn desktop site. It can only be done on the LinkedIn iOS/Android mobile app.

To delete your name pronunciation on your profile:

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Click View profile.
  3. Click the  Edit icon in your introduction card.
  4. Click the  Delete icon next to your Name pronunciation
  5. In the confirmation pop-up window, click Delete.

iOS

To record and display your name pronunciation on your profile:

  1. Tap your profile picture > View Profile.
  2. Tap the  Edit icon from your introduction card.
  3. Tap  Record name pronunciation. If you’ve already recorded your name, you can tap the  Edit icon to delete or replace the existing recording.
  4. Tap the recording button and hold to record your name. Note: You can also cancel or preview the recording.
  5. Tap the Use button when you’re satisfied with your recording. Note: You can also Retake the recording.
  6. Tap Save.

Your recording will display next to your name in your introduction card.

Android

To record and display your name pronunciation on your profile:

  1. Tap your profile picture > View Profile.
  2. Tap the  Edit icon from your introduction card.
  3. Tap  Record name pronunciation. If you’ve already recorded your name, you can tap the  Edit icon to delete or replace the existing recording.
  4. Tap the recording button and hold to record your name. Note: You can also cancel or preview the recording.
  5. Tap the Use button when you’re satisfied with your recording. Note: You can also Retake the recording.
  6. Tap Save.

Your recording will display next to your name in your introduction card.

While recording:

  • Make sure that the total recording time is within 10 seconds.
  • Limit background noise.
  • Speak slowly and pronounce each syllable clearly.
  • Hold the phone four inches from your mouth.
